Mostly Kosher, Klezmer-Rock band boldly redefines their musical genre taking the listener through a timeline of history with modern protest music, toppling norms of intolerance and indifference. The ensemble is led by frontman Leeav Sofer accompanied by founding members Janice Mautner Markham on violin, Adam Levy on bass and special guest artists!
Mostly Kosher is a fixture at renowned California stages such as the Ford Amphitheatre, Skirball Cultural Center, Torrance Center for the Arts, Chandler and Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center and as the first Jewish music ensemble residency at the Disney parks. Mostly Kosher is proud to be teaching artists for Urban Voices Project, performing and educating in underserved areas in and around Southern California including prisons, community clinics and shelters. Mostly Kosher is also a mentor ensemble to the Los Angeles Jewish Youth Orchestra for middle school and high school musicians. Mostly Kosher kicked off their 2022/2023 live performance schedule with a long-anticipated record release of “This World is Yours.”
The Jewish Youth Orchestra is a community-based ensemble of high school and university-aged musicians dedicated to the study and performance of Jewish music, liturgical and secular, as well as music influenced and connected to Jewish culture. The mission of the Jewish Youth Orchestra is to offer a unique experience for young musicians, building a Jewish cultural education, which draws from numerous music styles from different time periods and regions throughout the world. The Jewish Youth Orchestra encourages communication and collaboration as students grow as musicians and individuals with a goal to create 3/36 music that excites the imagination and performance that inspires the next generation of artists and audiences.
