Performing Books introduces children to the performing arts through children's books.
This free series offers families the unique opportunity to hear stories read and brought to life by professional storytellers and artists. Recommended for children ages 4 through 10.

"Performing Books is 'really about bringing enhanced literacy through the arts,' said (Lynda) Jenner, who works with Ilene Abramson, (Central) Library's director of children's services, to select books about some aspect of the performing arts that best lend themselves to dramatization by a limited number of artists." ... "We try and find something in each story that children can do so that it's interactive," Jenner said. "It's a good way to introduce art forms that might be a little daunting if they're introduced in full form." - Los Angeles Times
