| The Music Center works hard to select judges who are outstanding artists and teachers and have the highest degree of integrity and objectivity.
In Performing Arts, panels of judges travel to schools and arts studios throughout Southern California, as well as the Music Center, to evaluate students in their chosen art form. Each performing arts judge is required to provide written feedback outlining strengths and areas to improve for each student. Our judges often comment on how exciting and inspiring it is to watch the talented students who audition every year!
Visual arts students are given the opportunity to have their work reviewed by a panel of arts professionals and prominent artists. These outstanding artists review all the student submissions and select fifteen semifinalists in each Visual Arts category. Semifinal students participate in interviews and an opportunity to discuss their portfolios with the judges.
We hope you have fun in this section finding out more about our judges. The judges may change from year to year, so we’ve included the biographies from last year. We’ve also included a section called Judges’ Tips that tells you what the judges are looking to find in your audition in the specific categories.
