Please make sure that you can receive emails from spotlight@musiccenter.org by adding it to your safe list.

In order to complete the application process, you MUST turn off all pop-up blockers installed on your web browser and computer. Please read the How to Turn-off Pop-up Blockers section for help.

First time applicants have two steps to the Spotlight Awards Application process.

Step 1: Register an account

1. Click on the Log in button at the bottom of this page, then click "Register Now”.
2. Create a username and password for your account.
Tip: Choose a username and password that is easy to remember because you will use this account every year you apply.
3. Enter your personal and school information.

  • Fill out all fields including your teacher's and principal's names. The teacher must be affiliated with your high school; this may be an arts teacher or a teacher who has influenced you most.
  • Please do NOT list teachers outside of your high school who you see for private instruction.
  • If your teacher is not listed, choose "Other" from the list. A pop-up window will allow you to enter your teacher's name. After you have closed the window, click on "Refresh Teachers” and then select your teacher name from the list. After you fill out the fields, click "submit".

Step 2: You have completed the registration process. You will now need to submit your application(s).

1. Please log in to the system with your username and password.
2. Click on the category in the left Web Artist Account menu for which you will be submitting your application.
3. On the application page:

  • Non-Classical Voice , Non-Classical Dance, Two-Dimensional Art, and Photography - choose a sub-category from the pull-down menu
  • Classical Instrumental - choose a sub-category, followed by your instrument
  • Jazz Instrumental - choose your instrument
4. Select your grade level underneath your school information already provided.
5. Next, fill out your essay questions; limit is 50 words (400 characters).
6. After you have filled everything out, click submit at the bottom of the page. You should get this message:
Thank you for your Performing Arts/Visual Arts Application.
7. An email confirmation/consent form will be sent to the email account you used to register. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please email us at spotlight@musiccenter.org.
8. You can now schedule your audition for Performing Arts or upload your artwork for Visual Arts. You can also apply to another category.
