The Spirit Chorale celebrates a 28-year journey of preserving the music of African American composers and the Negro spiritual in particular. Chorale Director and founder Byron J. Smith combined some of the most sought-after singers in Los Angeles to make up this dynamic choral ensemble. The group has toured the country and the world, keeping alive the music that grew out of the slavery experience and presenting the music with pride and excitement through great arrangements and dynamic singing. The Spirit Chorale has performed with a wide range of artists from Barry Manilow to Richard Smallwood and Wynton Marsallis, and has released four CD projects. Along with the spirituals, Director Smith is known for his uplifting and dynamic gospel selections that have been recorded, performed and appreciated worldwide.

The Spirit Chorale of Los Angeles is a unique chorale ensemble blessed with a message of hope and love.
